Miscellaneous stupidities

lordshipmayhem1) From tonight's David Letterman show, "Small Town News" segment: one housewife decided to do some ironing, so she fills her iron with gasoline. (Hey, everybody irons with gasoline, don't they?) The resulting explosion caused a house fire.
2) Ad on the Toronto Transit Commission buses and subway cars, for Mexican tourism: "We treat your body like a Mayan temple." Yep, we abandon it in the middle of the jungle to scavengers, archaeologists and anthropologists. Just how you wanted to spend the next several thousand years' vacation.
3) Far too many of us leave our brains in neutral when we put our cars in gear. A German driver followed the command of "Turn right now!" from his navigation system a little too literally, turning off the road about 30 metres before the intersection he should have. He drove his SUV off the road, onto a building site, up a stairway and into a port-a-potty. Resulting damage, according to the Rudolstadt police: about 2,000 Euros to the stairs, another 100 Euros to the car and a fine of 35 Euros.
4) Still in Germany, another driver, 80 years old, also obediently followed his navigation system's instructions, ignoring "closed for construction" signs on a Hamburg highway and plowing into a pile of sand (that the navigation system neglected to mention shouldn't have been there). Fortunately, neither driver nor passenger was hurt.
5) Another from tonight's David Letterman show: from a small-town newspaper's police blotter report: a woman called in to report her husband was stupid. He's not the only one, ma'am - so's the woman he married.
6) And the NDP are demanding Peter Mackay apologise for inferring that his ex-girlfriend Belinda was a dog. I think he should offer one. After all, dogs are loyal and noble, and don't deserve to have their name sullied by that sort of comparison.
