I was advised that a certain function on Yardi Voyager wasn't working on one specific computer, so sysadmin John and myself settled down to try to crack the cause.
We updated Windows. No joy. We tried disabling the local firewall - already disabled. We checked the Internet Exploder security (PHAH!) settings. No joy.
So I had John sit at one computer while I sat at one we knew allowed Voyager to work, and I rattled off the Advanced settings. When I got to "Java - enabled", we had our answer. "I don't HAVE any Java options!" John cries out, and I recall being told Voyager needs Java. (And ActiveX, the ultimate virus doorway into the petri dish that is Windows. Have I told you how utterly unimpressed I am with Yardi?)
Now, everything's great in the world again. Except we still have to use Winblows.
