Oct. 15th, 2006 10:26 pmSo an acquaintanceo of mine, Anna the minister of the Crescent Town church, asked me to give her a hand with her computer - she couldn't send or receive e-mail. She asked politely, so I said, "Yes".
Turns out, after about 2 hours on the phone with Sympatico's India support group dicking aroud about why I couldn't even frickin' connect to their servers, that the problem is somewhere in the line going in to her unit. They've notified "another division" (Field division, I didn't know Bell had an Expeditionary Force...) who will report back within 72 hours or so.
And I got $20 for "solving" the problem, which I patently have not yet done. I guess it's because I managed to get Bell to get off its butts and solve the problem.
Get this: the problem has existed for about a month. It worked OK for the last 3 years, but suddenly stopped working.

Embarrassing headline #1: "Military names killed soldiers". (No, it was the Taliban who killed the soldiers, doofus.) If they had have had CIVILIAN names, maybe they would have been OK?
Embarrassing headline #2: "Squatters forced to move out of derelict ex-Calgary military base due to asbestos fears". It used to be in Calgary, but moved (sort of Howl's Moving Castle as built by Crown Assets)? I was unaware that Calgary had its own military force. It used to belong to the Calgary Army? The Calgary Air Force? The Calgary Navy, possibly? Or maybe the Calgary Marine Corps?
