Second, for a few days, Microsoft was distributing Ubuntu Linux software. Don't believe me? Try clicking here, which inculdes a screen capture. As soon as they realized what was going on, the Dark Masters at Microsoft's Windows Marketplace had it taken down. My favourite quote from the Marketplace entry: "Ubuntu is a community developed operating system that is perfect for laptops, desktops, and servers." Yikes!! You can see why putting this up on Windows Marketplace would be lead-balloon time for Microsoft, so someone had to either crack the site or do this from the inside, timed to coincide with their letter of resignation/retirement.
And from Softpedia, according to Lisa Michigan from the Microsoft U.K. licensing team, the first two positions in the company's top 5 licensing questions revolve around the hows and permissions of downgrading from Windows Vista to Windows XP.
