The X -Wing fighter, that is.

****

Other miscellaneous stuff:
1) While walking to my sensei's, I passed by the manicure place, Buff. It made me wonder: Did the store's name mean that the staff were all buff? That they worked in the buff? That their clientele were naturist bodybuilders? I wasn't curious enough to peek inside. Some things are best left to the imagination.

2) At lunch, I passed by one pub that had as a daily special Meatloaf. ("Oh, good," I thought, "they have entertainment there.") And for the rest of the afternoon, I had "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" stuck in my cranium. ("Ain't no doubt about it, we were doubly blessed: We were barely 17 and we were barely dressed" AARRGG!!)

3) Speaking of barely dressed...

Ya know, I'm distressed the number of my students who would go "Meatloaf? That's a band?" *facepalm*

So, show your students the Rocky Horror Picture Show. "Meatloaf AGAIN!?!" ^_^

4. If you hadn't been so distracted by Meatloaf, you might've noticed the Ginny waving at you as you sat on the subway waiting to go south at Dundas today. *waves*

What can I say? An errant blob of water had landed on my glasses, and rendered me very myopic until I got to a point where I could wipe them down. Sorry to have missed you; it would have been the highlight of my day.

Buffing nails (which is the means by which one uses varying grades of very fine sandpaperish stuff to make fingernails all shiny and such without polish)is something done at nail salons. I'm guessing this was what they were referencing.

And now you know... and knowing is half the battle!

Ah, yes, I did know - but letting your devilish imagination run wild is half the fun!!

The logo made the word "buff" all too tempting a target.

:P

I thought letting your imagination go was ALL the fun?

And an X-Wing fighter? People have lots of imagination and are inspired by many strange things. Next thing they'll build is a working shuttle for the next Star Trek movie. Who knows? Maybe even the entire Enterprise!

Back around 1968, a couple of kids built a very accurate rendition of the Enterprise bridge. They showed a picture of their creation to Gene Coon, one of the executives on the series, asking, "What's wrong with this picture?"

"Well, the captain's wearing glasses..." Then he took a closer look. "Hey, wait, this isn't MY bridge set!!" He'd been utterly fooled at first.
