OSHAWA, Ontario, Dec. 18 (UPI) -- Toronto-area police arrested a woman who showed up drunk to pick up a friend arrested hours earlier for impaired driving with her as a passenger.
Durham Regional Police in Oshawa, 35 miles east of Toronto, said an unidentified male driver was arrested at a seasonal roadside alcohol checkpoint last week after recording more than the Ontario provincial level of 0.08 percent in a Breathalyzer test.
His female passenger also tested at more than the limit but was allowed to leave on foot, the Toronto Sun reported.
Three hours later, the woman drove up to the police station to pick up her friend and officers asked her to repeat the Breathalyzer test.
She was again over the limit and was arrested, police said.
"You just don't sober up in three hours," Durham Police Sgt. Paul McCurbin told the Sun. "It just makes you wonder what people are thinking."
