Sign of the Times
Jan. 9th, 2008 11:54 pmOr to be more specific, Sign of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce.
I was heading home from my sensei's at about 8:00 and noticed that just the other side of the King Street subway station, the cops had closed off the street. A TV news cameraman was set up at the corner, pointing his monster at the top of the CIBC Building. On the subway ride home I heard about King streetcars diverting up University, across Queen and down Church, a large chunk of real estate.
It wasn't until I got home that I discovered that our insanely high winds had knocked the sign at the top of that building loose, sending shards of glass or plastic down onto the busy streets below. I'm impressed that this was the only such sign.
Anybody else catch the report of the big tree that crushed the car? The owners of the car and tree had reported said tree two years ago to the City, but the engineer that looked at it said it was "fine". Wonder what he's doing today?
