If SCO owes Novell pots and pots of money
Jan. 20th, 2008 01:12 pmThe lawsuit between SCO (the plaintiff with the target on its chest - bummer of a birthmark, Hal) and Novell (the defendant on the offensive) was delayed in December when SCO threw itself in a hail-Mary pass at the New Jersey bankruptcy courts last month.
Aforementioned lawsuit is now back on, and back in Utah federal court, and back in front of the now thoroughly-unamused Judge Kimball. He's scheduled a grand total of four consecutive weekdays for this, and somehow I don't think it'll take longer than that. SCO is holding a pair of deuces, which isn't much protection against firepower the legal equivalent to the USS New Jersey's broadsides.
What are the legal remedies open to Novell in the event of SCO being found to owe them about 120% of their pre-bankruptcy assets? The list is here. ("Darl" refers to Darl McBride, CEO of The SCO Group.)
I prefer that last penalty.
