lordshipmayhemMore stupidity from our favourite legal farce, The SCO Group Inc. versus The World + Dog. Yesterday was the drop-dead date for filing claims in SCO's bankruptcy, and the truly clueless were opening up their mouths (or which might be worse, recording their remarks in writing for all posterity) and proving their stupidity to one and all.
1) One bagholder actually had the nerve to file a bankruptcy claim. He bought in (post bankruptcy!!) at 13 cents a share (it closed yesterday at 10 cents a share), and he wants his money back. Get this: HE IS A LAWYER. Hey, mac, were you sick or something when your class covered the U.S. Bankruptcy Code? You're not eligible!!
2) Another bagholder couple is truly a sad case. Innocent 70+ year old husband and wife bought in when the Initial Public Offering was done many years ago. Their initial several thousands of dollars investment is now worth about 31 cents. The original shares have been reduced by a series of reverse splits (a reverse split of 10/1 turns every 10 of your shares into 1 new share, it's used when the price drops too low). They're part of the IPO class action, or should be, and shouldn't be here either.
3) A third series of claims are written by someone bordering on illiteracy. Witness this excerpt: "PETITION FOR CERTIFICATE OF NEW #2,256 SCO SHERS [...] SCO GROUP, INC FILED FRAUDULENT CHAPTER 11 BANKRUPTCY WHICH I PETITION COURT TO DISSMISS. WITHOUT PREJEDECE AND AWORD MY MINOR DAUGHTER CERTIFICATE. * SCO GROUP, INC SHALL FILE FIRST LIBILTY CLAIME FOR LEGAL MISCONDUCT AGAINST LAW FIRM LOOSING IT CASE. WITH FIRMS LIBILITY INSURANCE". (I've underlined the spelling mistakes. Esker, is that you?)
We geeks and groklawyers were convinced the bagholders were a mixture of innocents and idiots, now we have proof.
