Phishing from the wrong side of the pond
Jun. 18th, 2008 07:55 amI got a phishing e-mail from "National Westminster Bank" this morning.
Cluebat #1: It isn't my bank.
Cluebat #2: It isn't my e-mail in the header.
My e-mail is in the .ca domain, and NatWest is a British bank. You'd think the smart scammer would try to avoid obviously-unlikely NatWest clients' e-mail addresses like mine - to the best of my knowledge, NatWest doesn't have any operations in Canada.
Edit: Yes, I forwarded the e-mail to the appropriate in-box at NatWest, phishing at natwest dot com
