And now, a word from the Shwa

lordshipmayhemAm in Oshawa right now, on my Dad's computer.
It runs WinXP. I'd forgotten how much I dislike WinXP.
Dad is suffering from "confusion". It's not as bad as those Alzheimer's patients on the TV ad, he can still remember stuff, but it's definitely a sign that the cancer has metastasized to his brain. Not good. He's started to use a cane (Granddad's old cane), he's got really bad gas that just won't go away, he's still coughing like an asthmatic. His oncologist has ordered the home nursing service put onto a daily schedule.
Pat and Phil came today, Phil booking a sick day to come with her. They should be back in Kitchener by now. I think both were saddened by Dad's decline, even more noticeable to them than to me.
Tomorrow night, Kathy & JP come. I really am looking forward to that.
And more bad news: the Among Friends group used to meet at a Williams Coffee Pub in town. They've had to change their venue because the pub has closed its doors - rumour has it that the bookkeeper defaulted on funds. They've got a new venue, a restaurant in the north end of town that doesn't mind at all if a bunch of seniors shows up after 7:00 PM just for coffee - their suppertime crowd having left by that time.
I'm looking forward to the first Saturday in October - another Newmarket swim to take my mind off what's happening here.
