"Mom .... was a GOOD SHIT!!"

And that was how Steve started the eulogy for his mom. Right in front of at least three ministers and an entire congregation that packed the condo's town hall. This is not some callow youth: he's about my sisters' age, his kids are both in their 20's.

My first reaction, like everyone else, was, "He just said WHAT?!?" Needless to say, everyone ended up breaking out in howls of laughter.

The memorial service today was packed, as she, her husband, her brother-in-law (twin to her husband, but tall and very stout versus her husband's short and skinny build), his wife (who is the longest-lasting waitress at the Crescent Town Restaurant), her son, his wife and their kids were all very well-known in the community. Even Sam and Jimmy, the former restaurant owners, showed up with their wives.

After the reception, Wilf and I went out for dinner at the Groundhog Pub, his first time there. On the way we kept chuckling again and again as we replayed the scene in our minds. Probably the most unique eulogy I've heard.
