You've got MAIL!!
Apr. 9th, 2006 01:43 pmI get this e-mail from Sympatico, advising me that shortly (how "shortly" I guess I'll find out when my e-mail stops coming), the e-mail server I'm on will be upgraded. I smelled "setting change", and sure enough, I'm right.
However, finding out from Sympatico/MSN (note the initials...) was a hoot. They knew I was on Linux, they grabbed my settings when I submitted my questions. So, the response (followed by the "we don't support Linux" line): "In order to set your email enhanced by Msn for Outlook Express, please follow the instructions below:", followed by 22 steps to change Outlook.
O.o Fscking useful, Herbert.
Fortunately for both of us, Step 20 details what my e-mail settings should be changed to.
"20. Set the Server Port Numbers
"Under Outgoing mail (SMTP): Check This server requires a secure
connection (SSL) and ensure 25 is entered
"Under Incoming mail (POP3): Check This server requires a secure
connection (SSL) and ensure 995 is entered"
