Sharp & Pointy things con't
May. 10th, 2006 07:39 pmWell, the doctor started playing with some sharp and pointy things, and it was all good.
Dad is resting comfortably, or rather as comfortably as one can after a large surgical team has had a five hour adventure digging around deep inside one's neck.
Yes, they say, they got it all. Yes, they say, it was very aggressive, and as a result will need to be treated with radiation therapy starting in about four weeks.
Dad will be in the hospital until at least Sunday, possibly Monday. They'll release him when they remove the drains.
As a side note: They went ALL the way around Dad's neck, meaning that so does the incision. They secured the incision with staples rather than sutures. Dad now bears an amusing resemblance to Frankenstein's Monster.
As a second side note: Hospital scrubbies have become more and more stylish over the past few years. Dr. Higgins' scrub cap had various property cards from Monopoly on it. Carly has scrubby pants and matching shirts with various critters on them that she got when she was working as a vet's assistant - and now that she's going to be spending the last year of her X-Ray technician's course at Sick Kids' Hospital, she gets a chance to wear them again.
As a third side note: Having been up since 3:30 this morning, I am officially roadkill, and so is Margaret.
