cocooning

Y'know, I've never seen a cat drool before, but it's been awhile since I was doing any serious cooking. Tonight, Chicken a la King. Tonight, Sumomo falling in serious love with the smells from the kitchen. ^_^

The sorta-bad news, but possibly a blessing in disguise: I'm finished at Whiterock, contract successfully concluded today. The good news is, I haven't touched a dime of the money I earned there, being able to survive off my savings, and with all the money I've saved I've got plenty to survive an extended job search without touching the RRSP. Additionally, I've got excellent references from both of the C.A.'s I was working for.

More good news: the headhunters have four (4) opportunities for me that they (and I) think I'd be perfect for. The price and location are right for all of them too. Crossed fingers, everyone, please. Or prayers, if religion is your thing. Or both (Old-timer, asked if he wanted to swear his oath to the court on the new or old testaments - Jews swearing on the old, Christians on the new: "Both! At my age, I can't afford to take any chances!!").

Since I started to recover from the stomach flu or whatever that was, I've gone into cocoon mode: Wednesday night I plotted out my meals for the next four days, last night bought groceries based on the list arising from this, and between last night and tonight actually cooked two meals. Ordinarily I'd have hit a restaurant of some description. I also am getting in the mood to do some baking - muffins or something. The ending of the contract has only intensified the cocooning, as I plan to take Tuesday and Wednesday for a serious cleanup around the apartment, making it spic-n-span prior to the con. I'm also eating healthier than I usually do, more salad and less sweets.

There's a jazz night over at the Masonic Temple by the Main Street Subway Station tomorrow night, doors opening at 8:30. I've got two tickets. Anyone want to join me? Price is something for the food bank.

And can anyone tell me why cats seem to go nuts over anything with tomatoes in it? Sumomo was more excited over the tomato "macaroni" (OK, wagon wheel pasta) that I made last night than she was over tonight's chicken.

Thanks. There's one that sounds incredibly tasty - they want property accounting knowledge and IT skillz, they're paying within what I want, and they're just one stop south of Yonge/Bloor, which makes for fantastic commuting. I could WALK to the Yonge station and avoid the Yonge subway line mobs.

I just made a half-dozen homemade chocolate chip muffinz!! They're still hot from the oven!! Come over and have some!! ^_^
