Central Park Media news
May. 29th, 2006 04:06 pmApparently, Central Park Media, owners of Software Sculptors, U.S. Manga Corps (spokesmecha MD Gueist (sp?)), and Asia Pulp Cinema, is headed for the corporate afterlife. They've laid off all of their staff save for a handful "to deal with loose ends", apparently in preparation for a bankruptcy filing.
They've got a lot of interesting titles, including Utena, Animation Runner Kuromi and Maze, and a ton of manga/manwha as well (including some yaoi titles). Let's hope they're not all lost to North Americans forever. They still hadn't finished World of Narue yet...

Date: 2006-06-02 11:11 pm (UTC)As for World of Narue, you could probably pick up all the back-issues of Ace for pennies on the, er, yen and get both Narue _and_ a ton of other stuff. Mind you, Japanese reading skills would be required, but then you'd also get stuff like 'Girls' Karate Club + 1', 'They Call Me Zushio', 'Sergeant Frog', and 'Dangerous Scars'.

I've had the Someday's Dreamers manga for awhile now - my sensei used it as a text, it was indeed a challenge as it had NO furigana whatsoever, aside from some characters' names.
And at the Con, I nabbed Volume 13 and 14 of my latest guilty pleasure, Negima. It's like grabbing advanced copies before the English translation comes out.
