Yes, I'm a geek.
Jun. 2nd, 2006 08:21 pmWith a little help from my friends, I'm a geek.
I need to experience setting up a web server, e-mail server and a print server. I need to work on my HTML texting. And I need to work on my BASH shell commands. But I know enough for this crackpot test. I was able to ID the computer in the picture. I was able to say "yes" to programming in BASIC and playing games on a Commodore 64. But I still can't believe I got better than 90% of the people who'd tried it. I regularly run into people who know far FAR more than me.

Date: 2006-06-03 02:16 am (UTC)I recently set up a free domain name with DynDNS so that I can log in remotely and help my wife with Mac problems while I'm at work, but the upshot is that I can now set up a web server if I want. I'm thinking of starting a blog so Noriko can keep her family up-to-date on stuff happening over here; I just set up a MediaWiki at work, and if it's anything like that, I'll learn a ton of stuff I should have known before I tried to take that test ^_^
