("Moe": pronounced "mow-eh": cute and sweet, but utterly unattainable female.)

I've seen up on 4-Chan lots of pics of these kawaii females who are also weapons, in the OS-tan sort of format (for the unfamiliar: my usual userpic is that of the OS-tan Linux-tan. Her outfit is full of symbols. "Tan" is a childish way of pronouncing "chan", hence hyper-cute.) Examples of weapons included the Sherman tank and the Fock-Wolfe (what a cute little wolf's tail it had, too).

And now Gonzo has put them all into a story, Strike Witches. In what can only be a nod to Chuck Yeager (who flew this bird in World War II), Charlotte E. Yeager is a P51D Mustang.

Godelpus.

We are not amused. =.= We can also smell the doujin authors already whipping up (and whipping out) horrible, horrible pornoworks of this. I wouldn't be surprised if they started the minute the site went online.

Eeeeegh.

Plus, it's Gonzo. Those guys ruin everything. I'm still not forgiving them for bastardizing FF:U and Hellsing.

Have you seen Saikano? I'd give that a try if you're willing to gize Gonzo another shot.

(be warned, it's depressing.)

They did Saikano? Christ it's been so long since I've seen that one that I forgot who did it...either that or I blocked it from my memory for some reason.

Eh.

Okay, so there's an exception to the rule. There may be others I'm not thinking of but I dunno. I put myself out of the loop for some time now.

Oh yeah, I've seen tons of those Weapons Girls on 4chan and elsewhere. There are also Mech Girls that are usually dressed up like Gundams, though there are a few from other giant robot shows as well.

I always thought they were cute. >.>

Oh, the one-offs on 4-chan are cute mascots...

...the concept of making them into fully-fledged characters in an anime with (hopefully!!) a plot etc. etc. are kowai as well as kawaii.

Of course you KNOW that I just HAVE to see this.

One of the girls is a 1940 French figher that never actually saw combat!! (The VG39... I really had to search through Google to find details on that one...)

Are you sure they ARE the jets, or just have jet parts on their (cyborg?) bodies? The Engrish description says "They install arms in an own body..."

The aircraft in question aren't jets - they're World War II propeller-driven planes.

Two are Zeros, one is a Mustang, a couple are FW-190's, another pair are BF-109's, one is a Spitfire Mark IX, one is a French Arsenal VG-39, plus there's a Russian MiG-60 and an Italian G-55. They're not all concurrent (the VG-39 was lost with the fall of France in 1940 while the Mustang didn't start coming online until 1943), but they're all from World War II.

I think the girls use magic somehow to become mecha musume.
